In 1949 McCullough Farms started as a small dairy farm milking 20 Holsteins. The farm was started by my uncle Bill McCullough. This was the income for my grandmother Edith McCullough and her eight children after my grandfather passed away. The dairy farm grew to 80 head of holsteins and Ayshire cattle. Dairy operations continued until 1973. Cattle continued to remain on the farm, mostly remnants of the dairy herd and a few commercial grade herd. In 1978 my interest in farming and cattle started to grow, but I knew this was going to be a long-term project. Myself along with my mother and father Walter and Peggy Jade began an eight year project of cleaning and repairing buildings on the land. We have been raising Belted Galloway Cattle since 1982. I was researching cattle when these beautiful cows from Scotland caught my eye. I knew this was the cow for me and my family. The extra lean meat and not to mention what an eye catcher they are. Our farm is right off of the NatchezTrace Parkway in Mississippi. This was my grandmother Edith McCullough's dairy farm it holds such precious memories and she passed away in October of 1987 . To honor her memory I wanted to have cows on the land and the belties add such beauty and they are a healthier choice of beef. My wife Angie and our children Chris is eight and Lauren thirteen years old also enjoy the belties and some good fishing in our two lakes.
